The Lee’s Summit West High School Music Parents (LSWMP) is an incorporated, not-for-profit group that strives to assist the band, choral, color guard, and orchestra programs at Lee’s Summit West High School. The LSWMP is made up of parents and grandparents whose children participate in these programs. We provide financial, physical, and moral support for the music programs on a year-round basis. Fundraisers have provided equipment, software, camp fees, awards, scholarships, trailers, guest clinicians, receptions and more.
One way to explain the relationship between the directors and the Music Parents Group is that the directors manage the front of the house, and the LSWMP manage the back of the house. The directors are responsible for the musicians, the music and rehearsals. The LSWMP help behind the scenes with uniforms and concert wear, driving, moving and setting up equipment, feeding everyone, as well as some financing. We all work together to help each program be the best it can be. Each year we strive to make the process more organized and efficient.
